Buying signals that predict a merchandise order
The public events that come before most branded-merchandise orders, and how to reach the buyer first.
Updated September 30, 2026
Signals worth watching
- Hiring surges: dozens of open roles means onboarding kits and team apparel
- A newly hired People, Workplace, Events or Marketing lead: new owners of the swag budget often want an early win
- Funding rounds and new offices: rebrands, launch swag and team gifts
- Conferences, trade shows and sponsorships: booth giveaways and volunteer apparel
- Company anniversaries and product launches: commemorative and launch kits
Acting on a signal
Speed matters more than volume: reach the buyer while the moment is live, with one concrete idea tied to it (for example, a welcome-kit mockup with their logo for a company that is hiring). A short, specific note beats a generic catalogue.
